Sphygmomanometer

A wonderful word :o)

Origin: 1860–65; sphygmo- + manometer:
  • sphygmo: From Greek sphugmos (pulsation), from sphuzein (to throb)
  • manometer : From French manomètre, from Greek manos (loose, rare, sparse) + metron (measure)
So, measure loose/rare/sparse pulsations. :o)
