Sacramento Zoo Sumatran Tiger Cubs
Dawn and I visited the Sacramento Zoo on Sunday afternoon and shot some photos and video (forthcoming) of the Sumatran Tiger cubs. There are three of them. One seems a bit shy while the other two play rough with each other. The mother tiger keeps a watchful eye over them at all times. We found the cubs sleeping next to each other around 14:00. After about 30 minutes, the afternoon temperature cooled and the cubs awoke and began walking and playing with one another.
We also visited the anteater (one of my favorites), the snow leopards (check out the tongue hanging out), and the red pandas.
Weather was perfect--mostly sunny with partial cloud cover, 18 C (64 F), no breeze.
We plan to return in a few weeks and see the new Magellanic Penguin exhibit the Zoo plans to open this weekend.
UPDATE: Videos: Tiger Cubs (1/3), Tiger Cubs (2/3), Tiger Cubs (3/3), Anteater, Red Pandas. Think low production quality and resolution and set your expectations accordingly. ;)
