Dream House

Walking in Sacramento's chi-chi Fabulous Forties district last week, Dawn and I marked down features of houses we liked:

• porch: rock, overhang
• windows: open and large
• fence: wrought-iron with rectangular, white concrete posts and red brick
• brick: red and black with coffee-colored stucco
• windows: 1/2 orange slice on top
• Japanese smiley face house: ^∩^
• porch: columns, brown, green plants; brick steps, dark brown door
• turret
• two-story arch over front door
• lots of windows along base
• balcony over front door
• Tutor style
• brick and stucco; brick along tops of windows or along corners
• unusual window shapes

Most of these were things Dawn noticed. We're in the mood for downloading software for designing a dream house but that's a project with a lot of steps to go through. To be continued.
