Learn a Foreign Language With Humor

Dawn and I want to learn a foreign language together. We're currently practicing French in our car. Today as we walked to class, we wondered about the use of humor exclusively to improve retention of foreign language learning. For example, "The door is made of soup!" or "I am a jelly doughnut" (an urban legend, apparently).
