Waking when using earplugs

A conundrum--how to use sleeping mask (to block out light) and earplugs (to block out ambient sound) and still wake at a certain time?
  • Coffee (smell)
  • Vibration
    • Phone on vibrate, volume 11
    • Phone in your sock (um, ew?)
    • Pads that fit under the mattress or pillow (used by deaf students)
    • Arm pouch + vibrating alarm
  • Earbuds (as a substitute)
  • Sonic Boom alarm clock -- up to 113dB (um, for me, this represents the last resort option, ugh)
  • Don't worry--you will hear alarm, earplugs will fall out, and so forth
